The Tokyo-based startup has released its debut canned sake Challenge Blue and Have Fun Red. Based on an official release, the company has raised more than $21,000 through crowdfunding for the release of its bottle-shaped canned sake. The idea was that the sake bottles were too big (it really wasn’t) and the desire to get a canned sake already existed. The same goes for sake in a cup. But hey, now Hitomaku is doing geemingu nihonshu (ゲ ー ) or “benefits of playing games”. It’s called Gaming Rainbow.
What’s interesting about this release is that Hitomaku enlisted former Capcom artist Kinu Nishimura and light-novel illustrator Mika Pikazo for the branding. There’s even a countdown to a label reveal on Youtube, seems a bit much. But even more interesting is the owner of the sake brewery used to work in the game industry. Yuji Tsuchida, the head Tsuchida Sake Brewery in Gunman, worked at a game company before taking over the family business in 2008 as a sixth generation owner.
“Personally, as someone who previously worked at a game company, I am extremely grateful for the benefits devoted to gaming,” said Tsuchida. “We’re aiming for a flavor that makes gaming more enjoyable when you drink it.”
Because Tsuchida has real experience in the game industry and owns a brewery, he could be the head of the craft of a real sake specifically designed to be drunk while playing video games. .
Tsuchida Sake Brewery, which specializes in the production of kimoto-style sake, is an excellent brewery. Honestly, whatever they do is normal for gaming if you drink and like sake. Heck, the same goes for whatever benefits you like! But if this product gets more people interested in sake, so be it. For the sake of the game, it is.
If you want to enjoy sake, this is a good place to start.
