Hubert Davis spoke enthusiastically about the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program after ending the careers of Coach K and Duke Basketball in the Final Four.
There will be no fairytale ending for Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. North Carolina and Hubert Davis made sure of that with an 81:77 win. The win propelled the Tar Heels into Monday night’s National Championship game against Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks.
After the game, Davis was clear emotionally speaking to Tracy Wolfson and citing that the win was just a beautiful day for Carolina Basketball.
If only Coach Davis had known how the Chapel Hill fans felt about the game, he would have smiled an even wider grin.
The moment is priceless for Tar Heel supporters who will forever have that moment against their archrival and can add to that glory by delivering another brilliant moment on Monday.

Despite being down at halftime, the Tar Heels never lost their resolve and kept fighting back. Additionally, they have now beaten Duke twice this season and spoiled ceremonial games including Coach K’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. This victory is now the official KO blow. The same team that inflicted Coach K’s first loss gives him his final loss in his last game.
On the other hand, the Tar Heels can’t afford to party too long. They will be underdogs going up against a Kansas team on Monday night that may be the best team Bill Self has had in a long time. Additionally, the Jayhawks are an impressive team, as evidenced by Villanova’s destruction in the first game.
Hubert Davis knows that April 2nd, 2022 will always be a great day for North Carolina basketball and the Tar Heel family. They defeated Duke and ended a legendary coaching career. But there’s one last job to do to write her own happy ending while the Jayhawks wait for her.
