Is Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury more serious than the 49ers are leaving?

Jimmy Garoppolo is set to head into a 49ers Division Round match against the Packers, but is the quarterback more injured than we realize?

San Francisco 49ers Midfielder Jimmy Garoppolo has faced a number of injuries over the years and most recently, he missed a game at the end of the season because of a hand illness. That still bothered him a bit and was something fans watched throughout the knockout stages.

However, Jimmy G’s injury situation may be more serious than that of the Niners.

First, it appeared Garoppolo was facing a shoulder injury during Sunday’s win over the Cowboys, though he dodged a question about that on Tuesday.

What’s more concerning, however, is that the midfielder looked uncharacteristically unusual when he started against the Packers in the Split while rumors swirled that his availability was in great doubt.

Jimmy Garoppolo injury: 49ers QB injured more than fans realize?

Judging by the signals we’re being given, it looks like Garoppolo could be more vulnerable than we’re outwardly told by 49ers.

Now, San Francisco clearly has talented rookie Trey Lance on the list as a backup if Jimmy G can’t go. But at the same time, there’s a reason the organization has given overall pick 3 (which they traded for) to the back four and has stuck with Garoppolo. In a word, Lance wasn’t ready yet.

Garoppolo and the 49ers showed in Dallas that they could very well be a threat to beat NFC in the knockout stages with full force. But if the quarterback’s injury scandals and signs turn out to be pointing to something more serious, it’s a real problem for San Francisco.
