Dead by Daylight has now become synonymous with the asymmetrical horror genre and is known for featuring a variety of characters – both survivors and killers – from well-known horror franchises. And with each new patch cycle and in-game season, players are wondering what the next collaboration that Behavior Interactive developers would bring to the game would be.
The popular Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is a name that’s been tossed around for a couple of years. Although most of the licenses are with film franchises, the presence of giants like Resident Evil and Silent Hill could indicate that another franchise like FNAF could potentially make an appearance in Dead by Daylight as well.
Potential FNAF killers and survivors
The main question on fans’ minds is which characters would emerge from the vast FNAF library. For killers, it seems to boil down to one (or a few) of the usual popular choices and their variants, like Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, or Foxy. Their Withered, Shadow, Phantom, or Springlock variants are especially good for creepy killers or skins. While the choices for a potential killer would be nearly endless, the choices for survivors are far fewer. One of the members of the Afton family springs to mind as possible choices (other than William, no one wants William to survive; he knows what he did) or even one of the children, although this likely clashes with the game’s ESRB ratings would .
The possibility of an FNAF crossover
At this time, there doesn’t appear to be any specific plans or indications of FNAF characters crossing over with Dead by Daylight. Unfortunately, while we may be due for a new licensed character combo soon, no teasers seem to indicate it would be animatronics from FNAF. However, the biggest glimmer of hope for FNAF fans comes from a Reddit Q&A response, where UI designer Sarah posted the following response:
Q: “Recently you were talking about the licensed film Killers that you would like to see. Which licensed video game killers would you like to see?”
A: “Five nights at Freddy’s.”
That one quote from 2018 is the main reason for the hope that we might see FNAF characters haunting the entity’s domain in the future.
