She was seen standing alongside the other senior royal woman, Camilla, Queen Consort, as they surveyed the annual service from the balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Among them, King Charles and Prince William laid memorial wreaths at the memorial.

The service also served as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth, with successful footage of Britain’s longest reigning monarch shown over the years.

Kate once again wowed social media with her timeless outfit, sporting a wide-brimmed hat, black dress and triple poppy pin – a symbol of remembrance used in the Commonwealth since the First World War.

Always keeping her mother-in-law close to her heart, Kate wore pearl earrings that once belonged to the late Princess Diana.

As pictures of the service trended on social media, viewers couldn’t help but notice how “emotional” the Princess of Wales appeared.

“Very Solemn Times”

“The Princess of Wales looked emotional during Remembrance Sunday’s ceremony at the Cenotaph in Whitehall,” read a tweet.

“You can see she has tears in her eyes,” wrote another, and a third agreed that you can “see the emotion in her eyes.”

“Catherine, Princess of Wales, beauty and elegance never ceases to amaze me, especially in these very solemn times,” wrote another.

“She always gets it right in the simplest yet most sophisticated way. Simply an icon of femininity and elegance.”

In addition to honoring Princess Diana, Kate commemorated her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth at the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night.

On the family’s first memorial day since the Queen’s death in September, Kate chose to wear the dangling earrings and pearl necklace that once belonged to the Queen.

The Princess of Wales also wore these accessories at Her Majesty’s funeral in September and at Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021.

First birthday as king

After Remembrance Day, Charles celebrates his first birthday as king on November 14th.

While Charles will celebrate his birthday privately, his first birthday as monarch in June 2023 will be celebrated across the Commonwealth.

According to Buckingham Palace, “Official celebrations of the sovereign’s birthday were often held on a day other than the actual birthday, particularly when the actual birthday was not in the summer.

“King Edward VII, for example, was born on November 9th, but his official birthday was celebrated during his reign in May or June, when there was a greater chance of good weather for the birthday parade, also known as the Trooping of the Colour.”

Queen Elizabeth continued this tradition throughout her reign as her birthday fell outside of the summer months.
