International Box Office: “Bullet Train” Grosses $32.4 Million

“Bullet Train,” a hyper violent action thriller starring Brad Pitt, grossed $32.4 million at the international box office.
The Sony Pictures release, which has a whopping budget of $90 million, grossed $62.5 million worldwide in its opening weekend. The studio says these results indicate the film can rival hits like “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” Pitt’s latest work was available on 73% of the international market or more than 15,900 screens. It was the highest-grossing worldwide release of the weekend.
Bullet Train, a star-studded assassin-fighting film, performed best in the UK, where it grossed $3.5 million over 5 days, followed by France with $3.1 million and Mexico with $3 million. Joining Pitt in Bullet Train are Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Sandra Bullock and Bad Bunny.
Also of note is that Disney and Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder neared the $700 million mark after earning $11.1 million internationally. The grand total for the superhero sequel is $699 million. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” continued to be a strong performer. The Universal and Illumination family film added $15.9 million to its tally, taking its worldwide gross to a whopping $757.9 million.
“DC League Of Super-Pets,” an animated project from Warner Bros., grossed $11.4 million from 67 markets and grew its global haul to $83.4 million.
Then there’s Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick. The action sequel is a box office phenomenon that’s still going strong months after it opened. It grossed an additional $10.3 million on its eleventh weekend of release. That brings the total to $690 million internationally and a whopping $1.3 billion globally.
