It’s been a minute since we heard from Hempuli aka Arvi Teikari, the developer behind the adorably excellent push puzzler baby you are. Well, Teikari is back with another game in the Baba-verse. This time, however, instead of shoving objects and changing the rules of reality, you shove tax papers in a brief exercise in comedic relief. That’s right, the little white animal does its taxes in the aptly titled book Baba files taxes.

this new game Available for free on (Windows only), tasks you with helping the little cat-dog-thing do his taxes. There’s just one problem though: the submission deadline is tonight! You better hurry to finish Baba’s paperwork while there’s still time. how does it look in action? Basically you’re forging Baba’s signature on a bunch of legal documents, which I’m pretty sure is a criminal offense, but hey! The government doesn’t know what’s going on and you better not tell them! Also, Baba is just a little guy, and as the game tells us early on, reading and writing are not among Baba’s strengths.

Icy Puzzles

After completing the legal jargon and multiple choice questions such as “What are clouds made of?” and “What’s Void?” hand the papers to a purple person who asks a simple question, “What are taxes?” Waste of time, mate. Total waste of time. You’re also rated on how well your signature matches Baba’s, which is hilariously ironic considering the creature doesn’t have real hands. But I digress. In total, Baba files taxes takes about 10 minutes to finish.

Although they are not the same kind of game, Baba files taxes Reminds me of Snoozy Kazoos Turnip Boy commits tax evasion. Perhaps it’s because both games have “taxes” in their titles, which is making my hair stand up as we steadily approach tax filing season. The annual act is such a nuisance in itself and often becomes something of an IRL puzzle. Maybe Baba can help me file my taxes now that I’ve helped them, but to be honest I’m not holding my breath. However, if you are looking for something short and charming to watch, Baba files taxes is a quick hit before the floodgates open. Indie puzzler Baba Is You is getting a tax return spin-off, out now
