The American was asked about his chances in the future matches of the North American tour during a post-match press conference as Novak Djokovic was likely out due to his vaccination status and Nadal was suffering from medical conditions. In their absence, Fritz said he could find success in the US Open series if he does well. But his ultimate goal is to make the top 10 ranking and the year-end finals.
“The things that I’m kind of focused on right now is the top 10. That’s just a good result away. I don’t really think too much about the US Open Series. I’m just trying to get some good results in each of these tournaments. You know, if Rafa and Novak aren’t there and I’m playing well, then I’m definitely a contender to win the US Open Series. But I don’t think about it as much as the year-end finals and the top 10.” said Fritz.
After the win in 83rd place Alexei Popyrin in the first round of City openthird-place finisher Taylor Fritz will next take on world No. 40 Dan Evans.
