John Cena revealed how WWE helped him find success in Hollywood
During an interview with John Cena was asked how his career in WWE has helped him gain recognition and success in the Hollywood industry so easily. The megastar revealed there were many similarities between the two industries, which led him to adapt both early on.
“What I’ve done in the WWE ring, no matter the genre — it could be drama, it could be comedy, parody, high-level action, minimal-level action — always helps because if you like what we do , break it down, we are storytellers. The character I play in Bumblebee is not an extension of who I am. I think the easiest way to move from art form to art form is to start with characters that are an extension of who you are.”
“The awkward comedic presence in Trainwreck is sort of an extension of who I am. The clumsy father in Blockers is sort of an extension of who I am. And the reason I’m drawn to something like this is because it’s the first time it’s not, but because I’ve spent my whole life telling stories and I’m trying to use my storytelling tools using it to take a little risk, I think that my career in WWE will always help me in any kind of storytelling art form outside of WWE.” – Innotech today
