“If he was in the 80’s he would have had his head knocked out,” Cedric Maxwell shoots back at Draymond Green after a “physicality” comment

The Warriors vs. physicality playing style in the 1980s was a source of contention between former Celtics Cedric Maxwell and warriors forward Draymond Green. The Warriors and Celtics are now in a heated battle for the NBA Finals, with the Boston two-to-one-led series entering Game Four. After a fairly peaceful first game, tensions erupted in the second game as Draymond Green and Grant Williams bickered, both sides received technical details and much more was revealed after the game. After the game, the Celtics veteran made some comments about Green’s play that the Warriors star didn’t appreciate and now the two are locked in a verbal brawl.
Cedric Maxwell’s comments on Draymond Green after Game 2
After the second game, Celtics veteran Cedric Maxwell expressed dissatisfaction with Draymond’s behavior and claimed the Warriors star took a hit or two back then. Green countered that he was probably bullied more than he got physical with others, and the back-and-forth between the two was amusing. Maxwell responded that Green had no idea what he was talking about because he wasn’t even born when he played, and Green was advised to ask his father who he was.
Maxwell was certainly involved in a number of fights. The Celtics had bitter rivalries with the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, and Los Angeles Lakers throughout the 1980s, as many of those fights turned into brawls.

Maxwell’s response in Game 3 of the NBA Finals
“We stood on the shoulders of Giants. The reason he makes 30 million he put on the shoulders of me and someone else. don’t be disrespectful” Maxwell said on ‘Game Time’. He also hinted that Green has a lack of respect for his actions and the comments he made at the press conference.
Before the series even began, Maxwell doubted Golden State’s toughness. He dubbed the Warriors “Tuxedo Players” because they didn’t want to be touched. While the Celtics dominated in Game 1, the Warriors were much more physical in Game 2 and today’s Game 3, with Green taking it upon himself to increase physicality.
