Max Verstappen is one of the most prominent names in Formula 1 and through sheer hard work and determination he has managed to establish himself as one of the greats to ever set foot in the world of F1 racing.

However, in his early years as a young driver plying his trade in junior categories, Verstappen has recently hinted that instead of being supported, he always received harsh comments from his father, which forced him to develop a strong mentality.

Max recently spoke about his treatment by Jos Verstappen saidMy father never said that I would become world champion. He was always the opposite. He told me I would be a bus driver or a truck driver.”

Max believes that because of the relentless criticism he received in his early years, he had the eagerness to prove his father wrong no matter what.

In addition, it can be said that Jos’ manner of being a strict father to Max has paid off in some ways as he has become one of the most prolific drivers on the Formula 1 grid today.

Max Verstappen becomes an absolute beast whenever he gets behind the wheel of the Red Bull, and as an example, last year he fought tooth and nail with former 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Their rivalry was one for the ages and it was amazing to see Max able not only to match Hamilton but to surpass him on many occasions throughout the season.

Max has a “never give up” Mentality and part of the credit for that goes to Jos Verstappen. His way of dealing with Max may have been unorthodox, but now the 24-year-old is big.
