Trinity Neal is a 16-year-old girl from Delaware, but she didn’t always consider herself female. And her story – including her government paying for s*x change operations at the age of 16, MTO News learned.
Trinity was born with male genitalia, and her parents assumed she was a boy from birth. But Trinity is different – she will wear her mother’s clothes and adamantly declare that she is a girl.
Her mother – who is gay – eventually took her to a child therapist, who confirmed that Trinity had a gender dysphoria and that Trinity’s mental health was being affected.
So when she was just four years old, Trinity was allowed to start transgender as a girl and her family accepted her.
Trinity’s mother DeShanna bought her a pink dress to mark the occasion, and 4-year-old Trinity was “in tears” when she finally felt accepted.
Trinity explained to the media, ‘It makes me feel very happy. . . And mom said that I cried because of my happiness.

‘It didn’t fit me in that body. It feels so horrible, I’m not even happy. I am always sad and angry. ‘
When Trinity turned 12, she made history by becoming the first child in Delaware to be covered by Medicaid for medical transition, a state program that provides health insurance for families have lower income.
At first, the teenage girl with Medicaid refused to take her puberty-blocking medication, but mother DeShanna fought for nearly a year to get her daughter the treatment she needed.
Medicaid will now cover Trinity’s gender confirmation surgery. At 16, she will be one of the youngest people in the state to undergo this life-changing surgery.
