Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Monte Carlo

It’s been a great week for Davidovich Fokina as he tries to make Monte Carlo his first ATP Masters 1000 final. Alejandro is currently ranked No. 46 in the world but his game here is better than some of the top 10 players. He would love to win the Monte-Carlo Masters and set out to emulate Rafa’s successes in Monte-Carlo. Rafael Nadal is one of the most influential players in the world and it’s no surprise that young players take inspiration from him and aim to play like him.

Although 11 titles is quite a challenge, you have to start somewhere and the times are looking good for Alejandro. He would like to make the best of it and win his first title in Monte Carlo. He would be heavily challenged by Grigor Dimitrov in the semis and if he reaches the final Zverev or Tsitsipas would be another David vs Goliath story for Davidovich Fokina but luckily he pulled off such a feat in the Round of 32. And when he plays in the final he would try to summon his inner Nadal for the title.

Whatever the outcome, Davidovich Fokina put in an exceptional performance at Monte-Carlo and would take great delight in his run here, but he would certainly love to clinch a title. After all, it’s never good for such a talented player to miss out on the title.
