Toto Wolff was generally satisfied after a 3-4 result at the GP of Austria after the fights they had gone through at the beginning of the season. Mercedes was very resistant to the cars and reliability and awarded them every happy position that they could have in the end. But Toto is still not satisfied with the pure pace that his cars give him and is convinced that he stays behind Ferrari and Red Bull with a few tenth lead.

At the beginning of the season, Mercedes had to struggle with a lot of pork whale, in Monaco and Baku they were just able to keep their car on the ground. But after the upgrades in Spain and Silverstone, the silver arrows seemed to have increased significantly to speed and performance. They managed to drive quick rounds, some timings were the fastest.

“If you look at the result, and motorsport is result -oriented, so P3 and P4 are okay.” Toto Wolff said after the race in Austria.
“But we still lack these two or three tenths. Overall, the car was much faster today. but [the team is] Not fast enough to really fight for the top “ explained Toto.

Mercedes troubled on Saturday to keep his cars at the top, but they were much better in the main race. Toto was convinced that he had a quick car on the track that the Mercedes is not really located after the return in 2014.

“For us in Austria this is never a happy route”, said Wolff.
“From this perspective, I agree to how it went. So to speak on Saturday [in the sprint] We were really stuck in the no man’s land. I think on Sunday I might be on the route in the no man’s land, but the lap times were at least competitive. On Saturday we lost every single round for half a second ”, Toto spoke positively of the weekend.

Mercedes is 122 points behind the top and will break his record of 8 consecutive titles in the past eight years. But due to the problems, this season 2022 will not be the season for the team to win another title.
