Throughout his time in DC, there was one thing consistent about Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, and that was his loyalty to the franchise that drafted him.
While he’s previously mentioned that he wants to stay in DC for the long term, it doesn’t appear that Beal is in any hurry to give up his contract with the Washington Wizards.
In an interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Beal discussed holding out before re-signing with the Wizards.
“I have time, so I want to keep the card now. And one, I’ve never been in this position. I kind of embrace that, being able to decide what I want my future to be and where I want it to be,” Beal said on the Post podcast. “And also, I’m not going to make that big commit and it’s not working. Finally, you have to be selfish at some point and maybe for the first time in my career, 10th grade, I am. And so I’m taking advantage of it in a way.
Beal has been open to negotiating his contract. Says he hopes to stay in Washington DC.
The Washington Wizards, who are currently hitting a 500 record. And their best start since the season. They went out and built a solid core around the three-time star.
Beal had nearly a million reasons to resign from the Washington Wizards. Wizards fans hope the franchise can keep him as the new offer is a four-year, $181.5 million extension. He could also wait until the end of the season and sign a five-year veteran max deal and around $235 million.
