As Ohio residents, the Cleveland Cavaliers will always hold an exceptional place in the heart of LeBron James. Visiting the city again on Monday, the king showed his appreciation by perhaps giving his best performance of the period. With 38 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds in the 131-120 win (which included a phenomenal margin over his previous colleague), LeBron has once again shown he’s the most incredible in B-ball and, to some, the most incredible in basketball history. On Twitter, the NBA folks couldn’t contain their energy.
Here’s what the four-time MVP referenced after LA’s resounding win over their previous group, the Cleveland Cavaliers (through Chase Hughes):
“Because I could care less about what the story is about our team, I don’t get involved in those things at this point in my career. I don’t read about it, I don’t hear it too often. I go home, have wine or tequila every night, and when I’m at my house in LA, I watch a movie with the kids or play Madden.”
LeBron James continued: “None of that (narrative) stuff matters to me. I’m angry about losses and things we could have done better and things like that but shit I mean as soon as I leave the area I leave it there… Let’s move on to the next day and how can we get better I did literally having the time of my life right now. The game is such a beautiful thing and as long as I’m healthy enough to put on a jersey I will play with a lot of passion and a lot of energy and give my teammates what they deserve and what they need.”
LeBron James ends the season with a bang
LeBron is holding his own out there for a 37-year-old in his nineteenth season. While that game was an extraordinary sign that he’s among the game’s best, it’s this season and the previous two or three seasons that really made an impact on the king
Never before has a player held the game for so long, and every time James has one of these evenings, he breaks the lifespan norm. In fact, this season is truly outstanding in all of its appeal, with midpoints of 29.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game on a 52.2% shooting.
James’ presentation on Monday was all the more critical for the Lakers, who are fighting for ninth place in the west. With 31-41 on the season, they missed the mark in terms of assumptions.
With LeBron playing better than in previous years, the Lakers definitely have an opportunity to stir things up. Assuming Anthony Davis makes a solid return and Russell Westbrook finds his fit, the group could end up surprising many people.
Regardless of what’s going on, what James is doing this year cannot be undermined. Given the truth of his circumstances, he continues to make no sense one way or another.
