Alexander Zverev will take over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals of Italian open. While Zverev defeated Chilean Cristian Garin in straight sets, Tsitsipas faced Jannik Sinner’s test and escaped with flying colours. Both players are in good form and have developed a great rivalry.

The Greek defeated Zverev at the Monte Carlo Masters to eventually win the title, while the German defeated world No. 5 to reach the final in Madrid, where he ended up losing Carlo Alcaraz. So this is going to be a very intense battle between two players who are playing their best tennis at the moment.

Speaking recently about his favorite for the semi-final match in Rome, Jim Courier made his point clear by picking Stefanos Tsitsipas in the epic semi-final match. “I think it will return to (Stefano) Tsitsipas, who is the better in direct comparison. It was much more in his favor. I think the height helped Sascha Zverev a lot on the first serve, as did his groundstrokes. In terms of movement, Tsitsipas undoubtedly defends better than Zverev, Sascha is still very good, don’t get me wrong.”

Discussing recent performances, Courier underlined that Zverev won’t have an advantage due to height as Rome is close to sea level and things will end for Tsitsipas. “I think because in Rome we are in very slower sea level conditions. Tsitsipas will be able to withstand the barrage, the offensive Zverev showed in Madrid and can turn things around.Added courier.

Both Zverev and Tsitsipas advanced to the semifinals with a relentless attacking game plan. But Courier keeps the Greek in the lead when it comes to the defensive side of things. He also believes Tsitsipas’ move will give him an advantage over his opponent in the semifinals. The German has beaten the likes of Sebastian Baez, Alex de Minaur and Cristian Garin in his run to the semifinals at the Italian Open. Zverev is yet to drop a set in this event, while Tsitsipas had a tougher road to the last four as he beat the likes of Grigor Dimitrov, Karen Khachanov and Jannik Sinner. He had tough games against Dimitrov and Khachanov as both games went into the third set and were hard-fought wins.
