“I don’t think we’re that far behind Max,” Lewis Hamilton shows confidence in W13 to challenge Max Verstappen after the summer break » FirstSportz

Lewis Hamilton was able to land his W13 in second place at the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix and has thereafter indicated that Mercedes are coming to a point where they will be able to challenge the likes of Max Verstappen and Red Bull during the scheduled races after the end of the summer break.
Lewis Hamilton has managed to climb onto the podium for the fifth consecutive season after today’s stunning performance. The Brit had a DRS issue in Saturday’s qualifying and couldn’t get past P7, but throughout the race Hamilton engaged his beast mode and sped past the cars in front of him.
His stint on the soft tires was mega and it was during this time that Hamilton was able to do most of the damage. His pace was so good that in the closing stages of the race he was able to overtake his teammate George Russell, who was in P2.
Lewis Hamilton is very happy with his performance and said: “Being really happy to bounce back from seventh place is huge for us. If we had that lap yesterday we would have been on the front row and today might have been a different result. I got off to a good start, that last stint was something very special.“
“If you look at Max’s race, he started 10th, spun, and won the race [around] 10 seconds. Tells you all about her car.”
Lewis Hamilton wants to fight with Red Bull and Ferrari after the summer break
Mercedes had a great result in Hungary with both drivers on the podium and Hamilton firmly believes they can battle with Ferrari and Red Bull.
While stressing about the predicament, “We found something and can keep up with the Ferraris. I don’t think we’re that far behind Max in a direct race. I’m looking forward to the second part of the season.”
After their impressive performance, Mercedes is now just 30 points behind Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship and that speaks volumes for the brilliant work the team did on the W13.
With Budapest done and dusted, F1 will now go into hibernation for a month and Lewis Hamilton has indicated he will do everything in his power to take his mind off the sport for some time and come back after recharging his batteries fully charged the second half of the 2022 F1 season.
