Both died at the scene.
Dylan Lloyd posted on Facebook: “No words can describe my heartbreak”.
The couple were only married four months prior to the tragedy, and a picture of the two on the day of the proposal was Dylan’s profile picture with the caption, “She said ‘yes’.”
The Sunshine Coast Daily reported that the couple had been married for three months and 29 days.
Lloyd and her elderly passenger were near the scenic Glass House Mountains, about an hour from Brisbane.
A Queensland Police spokesman told The Sunshine Coast Daily the accident was “incredibly rare” and the tree that struck her car was in poor condition, either rotting or damaged by an animal.
Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Stream told the outlet the pair were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Unfortunately when that vehicle went under – a few seconds in either direction the vehicle would have been clear – it hit the vehicle and then the vehicle left the road,” he said.
