Jackman received all kinds of responses from both fans and big-name accounts, including Golden Globe’s Twitter.

While filming The Son, Jackman’s father, Christopher John Jackson, died after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease

At the time, Jackman decided to continue making his film.

“My dad never missed a day of work,” Jackman told Variety of his decision to continue working in October.

“I could feel him. I knew if he could talk to me he would say, ‘You have to go to work! What are you talking about?’ I felt his presence on set.”

“So he was supposedly mentally gone,” he said. “He would still smile a little. I didn’t know he was going to die physically, but I knew it was a goodbye of sorts.”

The actor plays a workaholic father in The Son – a character who bears similarities to Jackman’s own father, who raised him as a single parent after his mother abandoned the family when he was eight.

He has since reconciled with his mother Grace and shared photos of their mother-son relationship on Instagram.

“I had a picture of him on the set, behind the action,” Jackman said of his father’s death.

“My dad worked incredibly hard – taking care of five kids, the weight of the world on his shoulders. I felt that he was completely free. That really helped me.”
