Kirby fans rejoice – you can take a buddy with you on your adventure through the Forgotten Lands. Kirby games almost always have multiplayer options built in, whether it’s co-op with a friend through the story or mini-games akin to Mario Party. If you’re wondering how to play cooperatively in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, look no further.
You must first complete the tutorial area – when you get car mode and travel to Waddle Dee Village, you must fight your way through an encounter to rescue Elfilin, who will ask you to help rescue all of the Waddle Dees. Just before departing on the Warp Star, Bandana Waddle Dee appears and unlocks co-op mode.
You can access Co-op from the pause menu to get a local second player to join and control Bandana Waddle Dee. He doesn’t have the ability to absorb enemies like Kirby, but for that he gets a spear equipped with a multi-thrust attack. He can also levitate like Kirby, so platforming isn’t an issue. If you’re tired of playing co-op, you can turn it off by clicking the pause menu and selecting “Play Solo,” which will take Bandana Waddle Dee out of life.
