How to play Arya Stark in MultiVersus – moves, strategies, perks and more

An assassin in both name and profession, Arya Stark is a fast, agile, and somewhat complicated character to play in MultiVersus. Because of this, she carries a higher price than normal characters, costing 3000 coins to unlock. But once you unlock them, how do you play them? Arya’s playstyle revolves around quick leaps that confuse and backstab the enemy, followed by crucial horizontal knockouts that further fuel her skills. Read on and find out how you can’t get another character to stand up to Winterfell’s faceless water dancer.
Arya’s key abilities and how to use them
Arya’s passive
Adding to Arya’s complexity is that there are many passive abilities to consider when playing her, which most other characters don’t. One to always keep in mind, for example, is her ability to deal extra damage to the enemy’s back. This leads to the next passive ability, which gives Arya and her ally a short disorientation buff after successfully dodging an attack while neutral. And Disorient makes it so that the next attack can break armor and flip the target to face the other way. Notice how you can pair that with Backstab. Further down the list of passive abilities, Arya becomes enraged when her ally is called out, which in turn results in her applying maximum stacks of debuff debuffs to her enemies. On the other hand, if Arya successfully KOs an enemy, she will spawn a pie (thanks, Hot Pie!) that can heal allies and slow enemies. And all of these passives come on top of the usual Assassin passive called Glass Cannon, which gives her 14% more damage from all sources, so keep that in mind as well.
Knife Thrower (Special + Side)
Arya already has excellent mobility, however knife thrower is the crowning glory in this category. You can use it both offensively and defensively, both from the ground and from the air. Note that you don’t have to hit an enemy to make their teleport part effective. That means you can use it in a pinch to save yourself and return to the ledge. And with the use of Treason Signature Perk, you can also stick the knife in your allies to also give them the Enraged buff. The knife has a long cooldown, but you can still use the skill – it just becomes a forward-spinning stab that breaks armor on hit.

Blade Sharpener (Special + Bottom)
Speaking of mobility, this is another ability in Arya’s repertoire that comes with a buffing helping. This ability causes her to run to her ally, disorienting them both. Pair it with an attack or three and you can surprise the opponent and make them turn around for a surprise backstab and a large amount of damage. Using it puts it on cooldown, but it becomes a single Disorient buff for Arya herself, but note that the cooldown version has a shorter duration.

Rolling Slash (Attack + Down)
If you’re having trouble finding ways to use your Disorient buff to flip your enemies, you can always surprise them by simply rolling through them and using this nifty trick to smack behind you. Try finting by using Disorient on yourself. Some deep-thinking opponents will turn to make it turn the other way. But you hit them off what is now their backs and as soon as they turn around you roll through and attack again Rolling slash. Double the backstab at the cost of a fake buff.

The best Arya benefits
Arya’s best perks help her move faster, KO horizontally, stack damage, and reduce her cooldowns. This puts a lot of pressure on the perks she is supposed to pick for her. From their native perks, snowball effect has some initial use, and Percussive punch powerr is pretty good to have. But you want to put your mittens on Coffeezilla to reduce the cooldown as quickly as possible.
Arya offers two distinct benefits. They aren’t as powerful as some of the other characters, but they have their uses. As we have already mentioned, backstitch offers another way to get the Enraged buff for her team by stabbing a knife in her ally. In the meantime, trophy makes Arya gain the face of the enemy she just took down, which is niche purposes at best.
