How to pick up tadpoles in Minecraft

The Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update expands on the nature section of the game by expanding swamp biomes and introducing frogs into the mix. While you’re sure to come across plenty of orange frogs, you can craft green and white frogs by maturing tadpoles in the right biome. However, moving them to this area is the only way to do it. You will not find tadpoles natively in these other areas. If you’re having trouble moving the frog fry, here’s how to pick up and relocate tadpoles.

How to pick up and move tadpoles in Minecraft

In Minecraft, when two frogs switch to love mode after being given slimeballs, one of them will look for the nearest available water source block where they can lay their eggs. This frogspawn cannot be picked up. Don’t try to interact with it even if you have a Silk Touch tool with you. They will break the eggs and no tadpoles will spawn. Instead, wait for the frog fry to hatch into tadpoles and start swimming around. This process can take up to ten minutes and produces between two and six tadpoles.

When the tadpoles are swimming around, grab an empty iron bucket and fill it with water. Now interact with a tadpole to pick it up. They will be in the bucket and you can take them anywhere. Carry them to one of the biomes below and place them in water until fully mature to grow into one of the three frog colors.
