How to open locked supply drops in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Throughout your journey in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you’ll come across several Supply Drops that upon opening contain rare items, food ingredients, and Nopon Coins. Unfortunately, you don’t get Supply Drops right away, and there is a requirement you must meet in order to open the locked Supply Drops in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. If you’re new to the game and can’t open the Supply Drops, read on for the instructions below.

How to unlock a supply drop in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

To open a Supply Drop, you must defeat all enemies near it. If you try to open the drop without defeating the enemies, you will get a message telling you to eliminate all nearby enemies. Occasionally you will come across enemies from the air, which are difficult to spot from a distance and give you the impression that there are no enemies near the drop. Therefore, always make sure to closely inspect the area where the drop in supply is detected.

Once you’ve found a supply drop and eliminated all nearby enemies, simply walk up to it and press A on the controller to interact with it. This will open the Supply Drop and give you all the potential rewards inside.

It’s worth noting that the Supply Drops only become available in-game after you complete Ethel’s hero quest “No lack of courage“ in Chapter 3. Once available, they drop in random locations on the map. When it finally lands on a surface it will be surrounded by a huge plume of red smoke that will help you spot the drop.
