How to make lava a renewable resource in Minecraft

Lava has long been a resource in Minecraft that griefers use to burn down the world, or other players use to melt the resources they’ve mined. Regardless of how you use Lava, the problem has always been that it has always been a finite resource. Eventually you would run out of water and have to start looking for a pool again. Thankfully, that all changed with the first Cliffs and Caves update to Minecraft, which brought with it a whole new way to turn lava into a renewable resource. Here’s how to do it.

In order to create an infinite source of lava, you must acquire a pointed stalactite and a cauldron. You may be able to purchase it from a Wandering Trader or find it in Stalactite Caves. Whenever you come across it, collect it and take it home with you.

First, find a place to place your cauldron. Your pointed stalactite must hang on a non-combustible block above it. Make sure all blocks in the area are safe from fire. Now place a lava source block over the block that the pointed stalactite is hanging from and pack it with more non-combustible blocks.

With the above in place, your pointed stalactite will slowly drip lava into the cauldron below. Eventually, over time, it will fill with lava without taking away anything from the lava block above. While the process of filling the cauldron will be slow, you have a fully renewable and reusable source of lava at your fingertips. Set up several of these configurations so you never have to worry about collecting charcoal for your stoves again.
