How to buy and place pylons in Terraria
Pylons in Terraria are purchasable pieces of furniture with unique abilities and limitations. Pylons allow players to teleport around Terraria without having to set up the wiring for traditional teleporters, but they have a few limitations players should be aware of:
- Cones only work if at least 2 NPCs live nearby
- Only 1 pylon can be placed in a single biome
- They can only be bought by NPCs with the Happy modifier
- To make your NPCs happy, they need to live in their preferred biome with their preferred friends. Once they move you can buy the pylon.

Make sure you place the pylon close to that biome’s NPCs – each biome has its own unique pylon that needs to be placed in its appropriate biome. For example, the Jungle Mast needs to be placed in the jungle biome near jungle-dwelling NPCs for it to work. Note that the NPCs don’t care how well their houses are decorated – just throw in some multi-room boxes to complete the requirements.

Once a pylon has been placed, it is visible on the world map. Placing two allows players to instantly teleport between them without losing material or mana. Players cannot use the pylons while under an invasion or when a boss has descended.
