There are multiple tiers of weapons in Guild Wars 2. In the beginning, players start with the most basic gear, and by the time you reach level 80 you’ll have quite a collection to work with. The highest tier of all weapons and armor in Guild Wars 2 is legendary tier. This tier allows players to use weapons and armor with flashy skins that grant the highest level of stats and are shared across the account. Another added benefit of legendary weapons and armor is that their stats are never set in stone, meaning you can switch roles as needed, as long as you have the necessary runes and sigils. This is of course very useful in Raids and Fractals of the Mists, where players often need to be able to adapt to the needs of the party.
Of course, valuable items like this aren’t easy to come by, so there are a few tricks to getting hold of that coveted end-game gear. While the game’s wealthier players can easily purchase their Legendaries from the Black Lion Trading Post, they often cost upwards of 1000 gold per weapon, and the armor is not for sale.
Progenitors are exotic or ascended weapons that players can use to craft legendary weapons. There are several ways to get them, such as:
- Drops: Forerunners can only be obtained as loot drops once players have achieved them level 62 and over. The higher your level, the more likely you are to get a drop from prey, chests, container, reward chestsetc. However, the chance of getting them is still quite small. The most likely source to gain a precursor comes from bonus chests received from various World Boss Events.
- Mystical Forge: It is possible to obtain a Precursor by combining Exotic level equipment in the Mystic Forge located in Lion’s Arch. You need to make sure that four guns you combine are firstly that same kindand second, you have one Average level over 75. You can only get one Forerunner of the weapon you combine in the Forge, so combining four Daggers can only grant you one Dagger Forerunner. The chance of getting a Precursor is still exceptional lowat just around 0.79% every 2901 attempts.
The Heart of Thorns expansion added the ability to craft your progenitors by going through cCollection-based scavenger hunts. You must receive championship points which are only valid in Central Tyria Region to unlock the crafting tiers. Once you have crafted these Forerunners, you cannot trade them, they are not available through a drop, and the collection-based Forerunners can only be crafted once per account.
You have to speak to me Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs in lion bow to unlock the collection levels. You can find him in the central handicraft area the map.
