How to get Fire Arrows in Horizon Forbidden West

While playing as Aloy in Horizon Forbidden West, you’ll need to swap between different elemental weapons depending on the enemies in front of you. Scanning them with focus will show you which parts are which elements. For enemies that can’t stand the heat, you’ll want to shoot some fire arrows. Here’s how to get them.

Fire Arrows can be obtained very soon in Horizon Forbidden West. As you leave Meridian west, you’ll come across a settlement called Chainscrape. Although there are merchants in this area, you will need to do part of the main quest first, “Going to Brink”. After talking to the folks in the area, you discovered there was a job outage while the Bristlebacks were in the area. Head out into the fields, find Erend, kill any Bristlebacks you come across, and return to Chainscrape to get Ulvund to blow the whistle and help the merchants reopen.

With the shops reopened, look for the arms dealer, Hakund. He was standing by the desk in this area. Buy the Fire Hunter Bow he has for 127 Metal Shards and a Feather Conductor. You will now automatically be able to craft Fire Arrows with Metal Shards, Blaze, and Ridge-Wood when you equip your bow.

After you’ve crafted the Fire Arrow, scan your enemies to see if they have an Explosive Canister on them. If they do, hitting that part with Fire Arrows will cause them to explode. Otherwise, you can still cast them on fire and deal some damage over time.
