How to get Ditto Goo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are packed with materials for you to track down and collect. Most of the materials you find come from the Pokemon you encounter on your journey and are used to create TMs so you can teach your team some new moves. Ditto Goo is just one of the many materials you can find in the games, and it’s gained a little differently than other crafting items. This guide will show you how to get Ditto Goo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Where can I find Ditto in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Ditto is known as a transforming Pokémon because it likes to transform into other Pokémon both in and out of battle. Ditto has appeared in many of the previous games in the series, but has never been this difficult to find. This Pokemon has few areas where it spawns, and its ability to transform makes it difficult to find once you reach a spawn location.

Ditto likes to live close to cities and towns. This makes finding his spawn locations fairly easy. You can find Ditto in Medali, Cacarrafa and Porto Marinada. Since Ditto likes to transform into other Pokémon, it can be difficult to figure out where it’s hiding. Fortunately, there’s a trick to finding it. Press the ZL button to zoom in and view nearby Pokémon. When you do this, every Pokemon you’ve seen before will have their name above their head. If you’ve seen Ditto before, you’ll see the name Ditto above the Pokemon’s head if it’s a Ditto in disguise. If you interact with a disguised Ditto, it will change back to its normal appearance at the start of the fight.

For most of the Pokémon in the game, you get their materials by defeating them in battle or by catching them. Ditto works a little differently. You get Ditto Goo by defeating and capturing a Ditto if it hasn’t transformed. If you allow Ditto to transform in battle, defeating or capturing it will grant you the materials normally dropped by the Pokemon it transformed into. For example, if it transforms into Jigglypuff, you get Igglybuff Fluff. For that reason, be sure to bring a Pokemon that can KO Ditto in one hit if you want to get some Ditto Goo.
