How to get close range kills in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Whenever you get a kill in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, you’ll see some writing in white capital letters with a yellow glow just above and to the right of your crosshair. This writing will at least show the amount of XP you have earned for that kill, but sometimes more writing will appear. For example, it could be called KINGSLAYER, BUZZKILL, AFTERLIFE, or REVENGE. These little pop-up texts relate to different types of special, contextual kills, and they all grant small bonuses to the amount of XP you get for that kill. Sometimes a daily challenge requires reaching a certain number of kills. One of the most coveted types of special kills is the POINT BLANK.

What is the best way to get kills at close range in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?

There are many ways to get close-range kills in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. All you have to do is kill an opponent at point-blank range with a weapon. When we say “close range” we mean really close, so that you almost touch them. They must always be within melee range, although melee kills do not count as point blank kills.

If you want to get a lot of close-range kills, your best bet is to load up with a shotgun (which is the most effective type of weapon at close range) and hide behind corners and doors to wait for enemies to come through for you can explode if they pass you. Pick a corner or doorway near one of the map’s chokepoints or near an objective point.

However, you don’t really have to use any particular strategy to get close-range kills. We got two in a row thanks to the inexplicable stupidity of our opponents. One slid right past us, so we just turned around and got the kill point-blank. And the other, even more bizarre, ran past us and set up a barricade in the wrong direction just a few yards from us.
