How to get Cherry Bomb in Vampire Survivors

The Cherry Bomb is a unique weapon that ricochets off enemies and can explode, dealing damage to large groups of enemies. It doesn’t seem powerful at first, and it needs some help. But if you invest the resources, it can be a powerful weapon that will get you through the early midgame. The Cherry Bomb is not in your starting list of weapons and must be unlocked before using it.

Unlocking the Cherry Bomb isn’t difficult, but it does take some work. There’s also an alternate method to unlock it, although it’s a longer route. Work your way up in the beginning and as you test the waters you might find that you already have the Cherry Bomb. It doesn’t appear often, but there are easy ways to check if you have it.

The way to the cherry bomb

To access the Cherry Bomb, you must have access to the inserted library card. It’s the map you unlock after completing the Mad Forest in your first 30-minute run, which shouldn’t take much of your time. You have to defeat 3000 Lion Head enemies that look like lion heads with spinning limbs. Defeating 3000 enemies at once can be difficult, and it’s easier to spread this out over multiple runs.

Since Lion Head enemies often appear after the halftime mark, it’s best to focus on adapting to the map first. You can then take down the Lion Head enemies if you know what to expect and when they will spawn.

After defeating 3000 Lion Head enemies, unlock Yatta Cavallo in the character select screen. You don’t have to finish the run to unlock it, and unlocking it will signal that you’ve defeated enough enemies. Yatta Cavallo is the character whose starting weapon is the Cherry Bomb.

Unlock the Cherry Bomb

The requirements to unlock it are simple: just buy Yatta Cavallo for 500 gold. Once Yatta is available, the Cherry Bomb will now appear in your arsenal. It doesn’t have much of a chance of appearing naturally and you may need to be lucky to use it. Alternatively, Yatta gives you instant access to the weapon. Using a candybox to manually select the weapon is also an option, although that only happens once you’ve unlocked enough secrets.

If you don’t want to defeat 3000 Lionheads to unlock Yatta, you can use the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane. Go to the spell menu and type “yattapanda” which will unlock Yatta without a fight. You’ll likely have defeated 3000 Lionheads before you get the Morbane Scrolls, but it’s still an option if you never play the Inlaid Library.

The Cherry Bomb might not be your first thought when it comes to powerful weapons, but it’s still useful enough to help you survive early on. In trapped maps, the jump and explode effect can quickly take out many enemies. It doesn’t evolve, but it does allow you to grab an item that’s useful for the rest of your setup.
