How to get and spend nanocoatings in Tower of Fantasy

There are dozens of different upgrade materials in Tower of Fantasy, and almost all come in multiple rarities. Upgrading your weapons and gear is essential to advancing the story and completing more difficult content. So you need plenty of mats to ensure all your gear is up to date. One such material is Nanocoating, and once any of your weapons reach level 30 or higher, you’ll need plenty of them to fill everything up.

Sources for nanocoatings

Nanocoatings come primarily from Weapon Augmentation Box I items obtained from the Interstellar Exploration, Dimensional Trials, and Omnium Beacon Select activities in the Adventure tab. You can also buy them directly from the gun shop for one black gold apiece, and they’re a random drop from purple Password Chests II that you need Type II chips to unlock.

Since the various Select activities require Vitality, you can only collect it so many times each day. You’re welcome to spend a few black gold nuggets, which you get by pulling gold-core gacha banners, to get a nano-coating, but you should spend most of that on buying weapons that you already need to upgrade the star rating for.

Once you have some nano-coating in your inventory and several Simulacra weapons that you enjoy using, it’s time to upgrade. Your first weapon upgrades only cost gold, weapon kits, and elemental cores. However, once your weapon of choice reaches level 30, you will need to spend two units of nanocoating in addition to the elemental cores. Each upgrade after that requires an additional coating, until you have to start fusing coatings with higher rarities.

Fusing four blue rarity coatings gives you a single purple rarity coating, and it takes five purple coatings to make a single yellow. In short, you need dozens, if not hundreds, of nano-coatings to fully upgrade your best gear. How to get and spend nanocoatings in Tower of Fantasy
