How to find Emeril in No Man’s Sky and where to use it

Along with Copper, Cadmium, and Indium, Emeril is one of four important resources refined into Chromatic Metal, an important building block in No Man’s Sky. To collect Emeril, you’ll first need to build an Emeril drive for your spaceship – and for that you’ll need Cadmiumso chances are if you are at this stage in the game you will be largely familiar with the process required to upgrade your ship.

Similarly, if you want to continue collecting Indium, you will need 250 units of Emeril, so this is another important step in your continued exploration of the No Man’s Sky universe.

How to build Emeril Drive and Emeril farm in No Man’s Sky

If you don’t choose your Cadmium Drive ride blueprint, go to Space Anomaly, where Starship Research merchants will sell you Emeril Drive packages for 120 Nanites (with luck, you might find blueprints on your travels, or maybe even stumble across a crashed ship with the drive pre-installed). To build it you will need 250x Cadmium and 4x . wire loomwith looms available from most deal stores, such as Space Station.

Once it’s installed on your ship, open the galaxy map and look for one of the blue star systems. From a distance they often look bright white or even slightly yellowish, but a quick zoom with a free-to-play camera will help ensure you’re ready to switch to Warp speed. Pretty much every planet in those green systems should have Emeril as the primary resource, but you can use the ship’s planetary scanner to make sure before landing.

What can you use Emeril for in No Man’s Sky?

Emeril alone is needed to make a number of useful new products and upgrades, including AtlasPass V3, Chromatic Warp Shields, and Venom Urchin. You may also need to tweak it to make Chromatic Metal, which is one of the basic building blocks in the game, used to craft many of the weapons and terminals you’ll need to take on your journey. Take your discovery to the next level. Emeril can also be mixed with Ferrite Dust and Oxygen giving you 10x Gold, or just with Ferrite Dust individually for 3x Magnetised Ferrite.

As with Copper, Cadmium and Indium, you can take refined Chromatic Metal from any source and mix it in a medium or large refinery with Emeril to get double Emeril – this can useful if you are rich in one source but lacking in another. There’s also another trick that takes more effort to farm Emeril units one by one if you’re really stuck. To do this, you use 2x Emeril to create 3x Chromatic Metal. You then mix 3x Emeril with 3x Chromatic Metal to give you six Emerils from a starting point of five – opening up an endless supply of potential, as long as you don’t mind grinding.
