When you kill a machine in Horizon Forbidden West on Normal difficulty, its external components will be destroyed unless you remove them first. This means that as you search for wrecks, some of the most useful loot won’t be available for grabs. To get that loot, you have to hit each of those externals while the machine is still alive, dealing enough tear damage to them to knock them out of the body. You can then loot them separately from the ground. This is how looting works in Horizon Forbidden West by default. But enabling Easy Loot changes the rules.
To enable Easy Loot in Horizon Forbidden West, pause the game by pressing OPTIONS then select settings and go to General tab. Change the difficulty to Custom and six new, specific difficulty settings will appear: Damage to Aloy, Enemy Health, Easy Loot, Focus Duration, Auto Focus, and Auto Heal . Set Easy Loot to on and you’ll be able to loot external components from the wreckage of a dead machine without having to shoot them away individually. Set the other five Custom settings to whichever works best for you. Note that the difficulty setting won’t be available if you go straight to the settings menu from the game’s start screen.
