How to dodge in Century: Age of Ashes

The dragons in Century: Age of Ashes are fast, but they’re not the easiest of creatures to control. Most have wide turning circles, making it impossible not to be killed by a flaming breath. However, there are a few moves you can perform to evade an enemy’s attack, sneak up behind them, and give them a taste of their own medicine. This guide explains how to dodge in Century: Age of Ashes so you can do just that.

While there is no native dodge button in Century: Age of Ashes, you can easily dodge or drift by combining your brakes and boosts. If you brake, your dragon will slow down, allowing you to turn faster. If you’re about to get hit by a fireball or charred by fire breath, use your brake, change direction, and then accelerate. This will cause you to disappear from sight unless your enemy is particularly persistent. Any fireballs you’ve been chasing will fly in the wrong direction.

You can double this dodge ability by using it in thermals. Fly towards a thermal and hit it, knocking you into the air. While being lifted, use your brake and change direction. Then, at the top of the thermal, use the thrust you gain to shoot in a completely different direction. If your pursuer is following you, they’ll face the wrong direction when using the thermal, meaning they’ll have to make a big turn if they want to find you again.
