How to defeat King Dedede in Kirby and the Forgotten Land

It’s no secret that King Dedede and Kirby have had turbulent pasts. While there are a few instances where they work together and are allies, there are definitely more instances where they’ve been pitted against each other. In Kirby and the Forgotten Land we see another example of King Dedede being a boss fight, despite not being the final boss of the game. Here’s how to defeat him.

When you reach the end of Winter Horns, you will encounter King Dedede. We recommend the fire ability first, so you can do some damage over time by setting it on fire.

At first he will have a few enemies by his side who will come at you, so take them out first. His first attack will be a simple hammer hit, so dodge and hit him a few times.

If he jumps away from you, be ready for him to run and lunge at you. Again, just avoid him and hit him while he’s on the ground. When he jumps into the sky, run away from his shadow and jump over the shockwave of the three slams. His hammer blows speed up a bit as his health drains, but nothing is too heavy to dodge.

When Dedede is down to about a third of his health, he will drop his hammer, jump off the stage and grab a pillar. If you want to complete any of the side missions, drop your ability and swallow his hammer. You can switch back quickly afterwards.

When he hits the ground with the pillar, either dodge the cracks or hover over them. After a few of those slams, he’ll come at you and have faster slams on the ground that you just have to dodge sideways and a sweeping attack to jump over.

Keep dodging all of these attacks and hitting him whenever you can and you’ll bring down King Dedede for the count. How to defeat King Dedede in Kirby and the Forgotten Land
