The most powerful gym leader in all of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Grusha. Gym Leader Grusha specializes in Ice-type Pokémon, which can overwhelm many players if they’re not careful. Since his Pokemon are very high ranked, you need to prepare properly before going into this battle. That is why we have analyzed each Pokemon that he will use and we are going to show you exactly how to defeat Gym Leader Grusha in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to beat Gym Leader Grusha in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
All of the Pokémon that Gym Leader Grusha will be using in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be Ice-type. That means you should bring Fire, Fighting, or Rock-type Pokemon. There is one Pokemon that could single-handedly defeat Grusha and all of her Pokemon, and that is Hawlucha. If you haven’t caught it yet, you can head to the northeasternmost point of Paldea, where the river from Paldea’s highest peak reaches the ocean. In this location, you should find a level 52-54 Hawlucha that can defeat all of these Ice types with ease.
Now let’s take a look at all of their Pokemon, one by one. The first enemy she will throw at you will be a level 47 Frosmoth. Since it’s both a bug and an ice type, fighting isn’t enough here. Start the fight with either a Fire or Rock type, or use Hawlucha’s flying moves to defeat him instantly.
The second Pokémon Gym leader, Grusha, thrown at you in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple is a level 47 Beartic. If you’re doing this fight with a Fire or Rock type, this will be your biggest hurdle, since Beartic has Earthquake and most Pokemon that are weak to ground attacks can be killed in one shot. In this case, you should use a battle type to advance to the next round.
For the third round of the fight, Gym Leader Grusha will send out a level 47 Cetitan. This Pokémon only has Water and Ice-type moves, so the situation is very similar to Beartic. Rock and Fire-types are instantly defeated by Cetitan, but a Fighting-type should easily get through this fight.

The final Pokémon that Gym Leader Grusha will try to use to defeat you in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple is a level 48 Altaria terastalized with Ice. This Pokémon will overwhelm most of your team, as it has Ice, Dragon, Fairy, and flight has. Your best bet would be a pure fire type if you want to get through Altaria easily. Otherwise, try using fast Pokemon so you can get the first shot.
