How to damage opponents while standing on snow or ice in Fortnite

There’s no better time to get into Fortnite than during the holiday season. The battle royale is restoring its annual winter festival to bring players a slew of free items, a decorated map, and a handful of wintry quests. However, you can’t have winter challenges without snow, and you even challenge players to find and fight opponents in the snowy areas. This guide breaks down where you can deal damage while standing on snow or ice and what you can earn from doing so in Fortnite.

Where to deal damage while standing on snow or ice in Fortnite’s Winterfest event

The challenge of dealing damage from snow or ice is hands down the most rewarding of all of Fortnite’s Winterfest quests. That’s because the quest can be repeated up to five times, resulting in a whopping 80,000 XP for anyone who completes it in full. To begin with, players have the most luck finding snow and ice in the winter biome, located in the top-right corner of the map.

Much of this biome is filled with snow, but you have to be careful where you deal damage. Although POIs such as Brutal Bastion and Lonely Labs are in this area, players will not receive any progress towards the challenge if they fight in one of their respective buildings. So the best way to complete this quest is to stop by any of these POIs to collect loot, then wait outside for enemies to spawn. If you’ve done it correctly, you should collect 16,000 XP every time you complete any of the five stages of the quest.

While the snowy biome is desolate, players should not underestimate their surroundings. For example, you can travel to its mountains to spawn snowballs and roll them at opponents. However, thanks to another new Winterfest quest, you also have the opportunity to gain XP by jumping out of giant snowballs and dealing damage.
