How to complete the Tower of the Guardian dungeon in Destiny 2

The Spire of the Warden dungeon is available in Destiny 2 and was added during Season of the Seraph Season 19. For those dying to dive into this dungeon, we recommend that you come prepared and ready to face the many challenges that await you in this Vex-conquered facility. You can do this alone or in a Fireteam with two other Guardians. Here’s what you need to know to complete the Tower of the Guardian dungeon in Destiny 2.

Spire of the Watcher dungeon guide for Destiny 2

When you start the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, go through the starting area and through the valley. You won’t come across anything as you make your way through the valley. Eventually you’ll reach the facility’s entrance and there will be a Vex roaming around. Killing this one will spawn more Vex and the goal is to activate the center module. You can only do this by destroying the Conduit Minotaurs that spawn in the area. They drop the Artrician buff, which activates the nodes in that area.

You activate the center by following the yellow wires to the other nodes. You need to find the nodes furthest from the center, shoot them, and then work your way back to the center. You must do this for each of the four nodes. When all four have been activated, go through the door and slide down into the facility.

Inside the facility, continue to the door and take the path to the left. The door won’t open and you have to work through the vents. This path is relatively linear. You have to fall through the pipes and get into a room with vats and a large computer terminal.

When you get to the computer room, go left and jump to the top area, where you’ll find yourself in a room with large platforms with several Vex chasing you. This area is also relatively linear, but requires a good amount of jumping. You have to make a big jump, which can be difficult for some players to achieve. You’ll reach the end of the area when you arrive at the elevator on the other side, which will take you to a computer room that will connect you to the Ares Spire.

Encounter with Ares Spire

If you get to the Ares Spire encounter before exiting the launch area, there’s a rally banner you can put down before jumping on.

Similar to the starting area, your goal is to activate the batteries on this level by defeating the Conduit Minotaurs, getting the Artrician buff, and shooting the nodes. To begin the encounter, you must defeat the Start Conduit Minotaur and activate the batteries.

The batteries have multiple nodes connected with yellow wires. Unfortunately, these nodes are hidden in various locations around the structure, so tracking them down can be difficult.

Follow the wires connected to them and when you reach the elevator with the nodes, they’ll activate it so you can go to the next area. You’ll need to repeat this process for the next two layers until you reach the top of the Ares Spire. It’s a rinse-and-repeat process, but the nodes are in different locations, as are the batteries.

Akelous, Siren’s current encounter

When you reach the top of the tower, you have your first boss encounter against Akelous, Siren’s Current. It’s in the center of the arena and you’ll need to defeat it to advance. You can start the encounter at any time by shooting it.

How you defeat Akelous depends on the switches in the center and the nodes on the four walkways. You need to defeat a Conduit Minotaur to get the Arctrician buff, activate the nodes in the center, then follow the wires to the batteries at the back of the catwalks. You have to do something for each one, and the last one you complete is the fight against Akelous.

When you complete the last knot, Akelous will approach you on the walkway and you must destroy the various orange orbs on his body. Once these are destroyed, it becomes vulnerable and you can shoot and damage its center. It will retreat to the center, but don’t follow it. After a short time, it unleashes a shockwave that will knock you back or potentially kill you if you get too close. This will be the rest of the phase and you will have to repeat the process.

Reach the ground

After defeating Akelous, the center will open and give you a chest and an opening to go through. Follow the path down where you will need to maneuver to the next arena. It will take some time to reach the bottom and go through the vents that will take you back to the Ares Spire.

Each area has multiple enemies that you must defeat and destroy Conduit Minotaurs to grant you the Arctic buff. Each room will have multiple nodes. You must activate them quickly, otherwise they will reset and you will have to try again. If you get it right, you can get to the next room with a similar puzzle.

The most difficult room will be the last one, which features a hydra in the center, with electrical currents making the area difficult to navigate. There are four nodes on each wall in space, along with one in the center where the hydra and electric current reside. If you angle your sentinel, you should be able to see the middle one without having to step in the middle to activate it.

Persys, encounter with the primordial ruins

When you reach the bottom, the final encounter will be against Persys, Primordial Ruin. You should primarily ignore the main boss for this fight and instead focus on the enemies and node activation. When the fight starts, take out the two Hydra on either side of the room, then take out the Conduit Minotaurs that spawn shortly after to get the Arctician buff. Use the buff to activate the five nodes in the center and open the main door.

When these are all activated, two nodes on the outer pillars will open, one on each side. Activate these currents and activate each node until you reach the next room, which will complete the circuit. Once both have been activated, a notification will read: “Reactor Isolation Chamber Active… Take Cover.” You’ll need to return to where you started.

Make sure you have the Arctrician buff on your Guardian. If not, Conduit Minotaurs will spawn which you can eliminate to get the buff. You’ll want to wait for the central nodes to open again like you started this encounter and activate them all again. This will close the main door behind Persys, which will contain the blast. When the doors open, Persys is vulnerable. You can damage her for about 20 seconds before her shield returns.

You must rinse and repeat this process until you defeat Persys. This is the final encounter in Spire of the Watcher.
