How long will the NFL sit out QBs?

The NFL will appeal Deshaun Watson’s six-game suspension as they believe it was too lenient, but how long do they want the Browns QB out?
Judge Sue L. Robinson issued her decision regarding Deshaun Watson’s suspension earlier this week, ruling that the Cleveland Browns Quarterback will sit out the first six games of the 2022 season. However, the NFL is now taking steps to achieve that extension.
On Wednesday the The NFL appealed in which they will seek to extend the length of the suspension.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport tweeted a PR press release that further explains what is happening regarding the appeal, in short that the league cannot challenge the findings of fact made by the appointed judge (Robinson in this case), but they can appeal the disciplinary decision of what to do.
As previously noted, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will appoint who will hear the appeal. But the more pressing question is how long the league is seeking a ban on Deshaun Watson.
Deshaun Watson suspension: How long does the NFL plan to suspend QBs?
Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network and formerly of The Houston Chronicle reported soon after news of the appeal that the NFL is seeking a full-season suspension for the Browns quarterback. Specifically, according to Jeff Darlington, they want an indefinite suspension of at least one year.
There was legitimate public outcry over the initial six-game decision for Watson’s suspension, and reports had shown that the league was pushing for something close to a season-long suspension from the start, so their decision to appeal doesn’t come as a huge surprise .
Regardless, this is far from over. That case could eventually lead to federal court, depending on the appeal. And if it gets to that point, there’s a chance Watson could line up for the Browns against Baker Mayfield and the Panthers in Week 1.
Stay tuned because this is definitely not the last thing to come out of this situation.
