Astros fans are unfortunately used to losing beloved players. Houston went through this when George Springer finally left town, and if Correa moves to a new team, Astros fans will go through it all again.
There’s still a chance the Astros could come up with some sort compromise with Correa. Receive Correa to come back at least one more time will help this team win. But it may not be necessary as Houston has been able to maintain a high level of success for a considerable amount of time. There’s a good chance Houston can keep winning, even if Correa isn’t on the roster.
Should he really leave?, the list will look like? Specifically, what would the squad look like without Correa?
Houston Astros: Predicted lineup for 2022 if Carlos Correa leaves
Houston will have many choices to replace their talent shortcut. It just depends on How creative do they want to be?. However, to avoid going too deep down the rabbit hole, let’s assume the Astros aren’t doing anything radical and can simply move a solid prospect to fill the void left by Correa.
When trying to guess what Houston’s 2022 roster might look like, you should consider how the Astros performed in the World Series against the Atlanta Braves.
It should be noted, of course, that this isn’t an official look at what Houston will be up to, but it wouldn’t be a bad choice for Dusty Baker to consider based on how things look for the Astros after this season.
- Jose Altuve (2B)
- Michael Brantley (LF)
- Alex Bregman (3B)
- Yordan Alvarez (DH)
- Kyle Tucker (RF)
- Yuli Gurriel (1B)
- Jeremy Pena (SS)
- Chas McCormick (CF)
- Martin Maldonado (C)
Pena is young. He doesn’t have much experience at this level. There’s a very good chance he won’t be as good as Correa, at least not at first. Still, he’s the most logical move for Houston to consider (unless they want to get weird and move Bregman over or sign with a freelance agency).
That’s the lineup the Astros could theoretically win, assuming Pena can move into play at this level. That’s a pretty big ifs, but Houston still has plenty of time to rest to figure out what to do next season.
