Ryan Blaney went on to say that he hopes to get the win to allay concerns as he’s annoyed at the thought of racing for points against the JGR man. He went on to say that with two more road races to come, for him it’s a balancing act between fighting for victory and staying in the bubble of hope there won’t be any new winners this season.
“Hopefully we can do that and not have to worry, but you just have to keep in mind that you’re still earning points to get Martin – us – into the finals. You don’t want to be in the bubble if there aren’t any new winners and obviously you want to try and win the race so it’s a balancing act, especially the two street courses that we haveadded Ryan Blaney.
Ryan Blaney added that his strategy at races is situational and they were in constant contact with the team throughout the race week to decide what strategy would give him the advantage over the #19 Camry after the checkered flag. He pointed out that at the end of the day it’s all about fighting hard for that all-important win.
“did you dig? Do you take the stage points to try to keep a good gap on the 19 or if you think your car can win do you try to go to the front? So, it’s kind of situational, I have a feeling. We talk about all of these scenarios throughout the week and in our pre-race meetings, but at the end of the day the main focus is on winning the race and just doing whatever it takes to try and make that happen‘ explained Ryan Blaney.
