Hillary Clinton, Oprah, Elizabeth Olsen honored at Power of Women

diversity is pleased to announce the award winners for the upcoming Power of Women edition and event on Wednesday 28th September. The event, in partnership with Lifetime, celebrates the Power of Women honorees who will appear on the cover of the issue, as well as the women featured in the publication’s annual Women’s Impact Report, which highlights the best women working in the entertainment industry.

This year’s award winners include Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clintonwho will talk about the importance of celebrating women and sharing their stories, as they do in their eight-part Apple TV+ documentary series Gutsy, which premiered September 9; Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay, which will highlight the importance of hiring female directors, as they have throughout production of “Queen Sugar,” which is currently airing on OWN in its seventh and final season; Extracurricular Production President and youngest Nobel Laureate in the world Malala, who will speak about young people in film and television and support the Pillars Artist Fellowship; and award-winning actress, producer and star of Marvel’s WandaVision and this summer’s blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Elizabeth Olsen, who will speak about her support of The Rape Foundation/ Stuart House. The program is organized by Megan Stallerthe breakout star of “Hacks.”

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was selected as one of this year’s outstanding awardees. The Duchess’ cover has been postponed to a later date in respect of the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. Likewise, she will not be attending the Power of Women event in Los Angeles later this month.

As part of the evening, Lifetime will introduce this year’s Stop Breast Cancer for Life PSA with a music icon Patti Labelle in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Highlighting the statistic that black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than any other group, the PSA urges all women to get a mammogram because early detection helps save lives.

As a Premiere Partner, Google will present the Social Impact Award Jacqueline Martinez Garcel for the impact she made as CEO of the Latino Community Foundation, an independent nationwide foundation with a mission to invest in Latino leaders across California.
