High Wycombe: WA Police are investigating a suspicious death after a man in his 20s was discovered in east Perth

A man found dead on the lawn outside a Perth property was likely struck by someone he knew, WA Police believe.

Authorities launched a murder inquiry on Tuesday morning after the body of a man in his 20s was discovered on Kalamunda Road in High Wycombe after authorities were called to the area around 3.20am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Fogell said the death was suspicious and that Homicide had taken over the investigation.

“Investigators believe this man’s injuries resulted from an assault and that other people or one person may have been involved in that attack,” Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Fogell told reporters.

“I don’t believe this is a random attack and therefore members of the community shouldn’t be concerned.”

The police now want to speak to the person who alerted the authorities to the body.

Det Snr Sgt Fogell said the man has since been identified and police are trying to contact his family to let them know about the incident.

Officers are also trying to get hold of the man who called the 911.

“We are in the early stages of the investigation and we have a number of investigative lines,” said Det Snr Sgt Fogell.

“We’re trying to sift through a mountain of information.”

Police on Tuesday morning asked anyone in the Kalamunda Road area to come forward.
