Sim’s 4 recently released high school years expansion pack, the first expansion pack since 2021. But navigating the DLC can be as confusing as the first-year classroom. In this scenario, you need advice from a worldly senior, which I am.

But first some context: the release of the expansion pack coincided with a major base game update that added a layer of scruffy realism with manageable body hair options, customizable sexual orientation, curved walls, and unwanted instances of incest. Yes, you’ve read that correctly. For a week, both the base game and high school years were patrolled by nasty bugs as sims who wanted to woo their family members aged fast and became celebrities by accident.

This is not a renewed season of an exploitative TLC seriesbut it is the Sim’s 4. If the community shouted against the nasty bugs, Maxis quickly unleashed some “growing pains”. Patches on August 2nd. Unfortunately, some problems, similar to cystic acne, are not that easy to eliminate. Creepy creepy crawlies continue to walk in ours high school years, caught my eye, but I’ll tell you what to look out for and what to expect sims secondary school. And then I’ll give you a wedgie.

you can imagine high school years as a lifted veil. Typically, you send teenagers to school on demand, they merge into the airwaves, and then return home when school is over. Now you can find out what’s so interesting about the airwaves and guide your teenage Sims through taking classes, studying for exams, extracurricular activities, and even celebrity posing.

But if your favorite Sim is a decrepit young adult, you won’t be able to get involved in most of them high school years‘ actual high school stuff, you still will Get access to a host of cute hairstyles, outfits, items and euphoria– ready made makeup looks. Children and toddlers can also benefit from some of these hairstyles.

Interestingly, young adult Sims can still join high school cheerleading or soccer teams, which seems illegal. Young adult Sims can also gain access to the high school years “Streamer” and “Influencer” careers that, as you know, everyone under 25 in the real world is obligated to pursue by divine law.

high school years introduces Social Bunny, essentially a Sims twitter accessed by clicking the phone icon in the bottom left of your screen. Various events, like cafeteria dinner or reminders of a party, will prompt you to create various pre-made status updates that you can customize by specifying a sound, such as: B. embarrassed or happy. You can also accept and send friend requests to Sims you meet and send them friendly, flirty, mean messages, or tag them in posts. But think before you type — targeted messaging can affect your relationship with Sims for better or worse.

Error warning: I’ve often had Social Bunny in hopes of increasing my following as a career streamer, but despite all the angry emoji left on posts by my homeless character, Beef Beefers, the follower count didn’t budge. No hate follows? Very unrealistic and, I suspect, a product of an error.

There are two classes per day – you can check them out by clicking on your Sim, selecting the “High School” option and looking at your calendar – but there are only two classrooms in the school. Active Sims are always in the left classroom, but the bell will ring and a flashing whiteboard will indicate when and where class begins.

The lessons are not very enriching. All you have to do to attend class is sit down at the right time and pray for your Sim to pull out their notebook. Occasionally you will receive instructions on what to do with a difficult exam question. You can complete homework by selecting it in your inventory, but I’ve noticed that sometimes my Sims do it on their own. You can also join Wednesday after-school lessons in the classroom to the right, or self-study with the High School option. Make sure you’re ready for Friday exams – the game will keep track of your grades, but the worst thing that can happen to you if you’re a rude student is you’ll get a stern phone call from your principal. The principal can also give you detention if for some reason you are caught outside your classroom during class time, but as far as I can tell all students are allowed to graduate no matter what. Must be a Montessori school.

Error warning: I went to school. I went to class. I sat down. Nothing has happened. I restarted the game. I restarted the app. Nothing has happened.

For me to graduate high school work was the most frustrating and time consuming part of playing high school years. The only thing I could do during an active class was “play a trick on the white board” by probably writing the B-word (“butt”) on it. I was able to study and do homework since you can control these things manually, but my sim never, ever, once opened their book during class time and I couldn’t figure out why.

Play hard if you can

In addition to landmark events like prom and graduation, there are plenty of fun activities on campus for you to participate in and control, like science fairs, career fairs, and pranks. Every Friday there is a kind of cheer rally with football and cheerleading competitions. You can participate by clicking on a soccer or cheerleading mat, which you can also purchase in your locker.

To claim a locker, click on one in the school. You will be prompted to buy an item from it or customize its appearance with different styles like Dark Academia, Goth or Gamer. Yes, teenagers love “gamers”.

You can sabotage someone else’s locker by clicking on it and selecting Stink Capsule. But don’t let the stinky cloud catch you—Your Sim will literally dieand your high school will likely have a negligence lawsuit on its hands.

If you survive to see another day and get invited to an epic nightly event, teen Sims can now sneak out windows, which is cool and sneaky. All Sims also get access to a range of new WooHoo or, for teens, “fool around” spots, including at county fairs or on campus. These WooHoo spots could lead to another lawsuit, but I’ve tried to romanticize my Sims’ teacher and couldn’t, if that helps.

Error warning: I’ve had some issues with fairs not starting properly or only halfway through. For example, at a soccer competition on Friday, many Sims were present and one gave a speech, but the food stalls never opened and nobody touched the soccer balls. My Sim had to mourn the lack of vegetarian hot dogs.

That Sims 4 school years The expansion pack is full of fun new items, game mechanics and locations to explore, no doubt about that. But it’s still riddled with bugs that make exploration less than satisfying. So if you want to relive your high school but want to improve it, you probably won’t be able to do that here. However, you may find a book with the title Love in sandwich time in the school library and still have fun. At least I have!
