Carlo Alcaraz gained tremendous momentum before finally being stopped by him Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of French Open 2022. He had won that Barcelona openand the Madrid open and while he would be a bit disappointed with the French Open result, he took some time off to prepare for it Wimbledon. Although Alcaraz didn’t play a grass court event to warm up for Wimbledon, it was a wise decision after the tough loss to Phillipe Chatrier.

Alcaraz is one of the biggest talents and he has shown he is a great mover on the pitch, regardless of the surface. He is again one of the top contenders to make it deep at SW19. Alex Corretja also agreed that a break is a good thing for Alcaraz. He said: “Carlos Alcaraz is very inspiring, he just goes with the flow. he works hard “I think it was good for him to stop after Roland-Garros, losing to Zverev in the quarterfinals – such a tough match – and then he took some time off.”

Corretja, a former world No. 2, believes Alacarz can be quite dangerous at Wimbledon. He said: “I mean, Carlos, he’s so explosive, anything can happen to him.” He added, “We’ll see how he adapts because he hasn’t had that many games on grass and sometimes that’s not easy, but he makes a calendar like the great champions, reserving for the important moments and taking time off just to to be ready the majors.”

He felt Carlos would need a favorable draw to start his campaign at Wimbledon and once he was in the flow the Spaniard would take a few breaks. He said, “I’m sure he would have liked to play a few more games.” “I hope it will be enough. On grass it also depends on whether you’re playing a specialist or not, but if he gets a chance to play a few games on those pitches and regains his confidence, he becomes dangerous.”
