Nick Kyrgios Reached his first ever Grand Slam final Wimbledon Championship 2022 but faced defeat against the Serbian Maestro Novak Djokovic who won his 7th Wimbledon title and 4th straight win. Kyrgios played fantastically in his debut final but soon the game slipped out of his hands as he started to get irritable and lose patience. He has dealt with some serious anger management issues and has also been fined for doing so.

The Australian is yet to win a Grand Slam singles title but has six ATP Tour singles titles to his name. He already has four wins against the top 10 players this year and reached three semifinals on the ATP tour. He played in the finals of the Cincinnati Open in 2017. During the second round match against Karen Khachanov In 2019 at the Cincinnati Open, Kyrgios began showing his anger by smashing racquets, verbally abusing and not showing the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Aussie was later given a 16 week ban. Three years after the incident, Kyrgios celebrates his comeback as a wildcard participant of the tour. It is Kyrgios’ sixth appearance in Cincinnati and first since 2019.

Wild Cards give players the opportunity to play an event after not qualifying for that event based on the leaderboard. Kyrgios’ rankings did not improve much after a successful stint at Wimbledon due to the ATP’s decision not to award ranking points to tournament participants.

Ahead of the Cincinnati Open, Kyrgios will be seen competing in the ATP250 Atlanta Open, where he previously triumphed in 2016.
