Joey Logano conceded that he should have driven the next-gen car a little harder against William Byron at Martinsville given the cornering superiority it has compared to his car. He went on to say that doing the corner and jabbing him was too much and too much for him to have a chance of winning against Byron.

You have to hit them a bit harder with this car it seems, but it was all I could do to get close to him. That was kind of the difficult part – his car was definitely superior to mine in the corner‘ said Joey Logano.

Here the Hendrick cars have been strong all year; You come into the corner harder than anyone. So it was all I could do to get to him. Reaching out and pushing him and I’m trying to make the corner, it’s just all too much and I couldn’t quite pull it offadded Joey Logano.

Joey Logano went on to explain that William Byron made the right move at Turn 1 on the white flag, checking him hard and stopping him at two-thirds. He added that he missed the chance to pass Byron at Turn 1 but didn’t get the job done in time.

(I) thought, OK, here’s my chance. Got into (Turn) 1 on the white flag lap and got to it and tried to chug it up a bit and I did it but not quite enough. And then he was able to somehow turn back and just stop me at the two-thirds. We hit the gas, he hit the brakes and it just checked me out what the right move was,‘ explained Joey Logano.

“He friggin’ slowed me down and he should have done it and it worked for him. Then I was just too far back in (Turn) 3. My chance was in (Turn) 1 to try and get him next to me and I didn’t quite get the job done thereadded Joey Logano.
