Have the Raiders been screwed by Byron Murphy’s game-winning fumble return?

Las Vegas Raiders fans are now wondering if Arizona Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy really scored a touchdown while crossing the pylon.

Two of Mark Davis’ professional sports teams played this afternoon: the Las Vegas Aces in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals and the Las Vegas Raiders simultaneously when they hosted the Arizona Cardinals at Allegiant Stadium.

The good news is that the aces won her first WNBA championship in franchise historyand a radiant Davis presented team awards while beaming at this great win.

The bad news? His NFL team wasn’t so lucky today, losing 23-29 in overtime and starting the 2022 season with a 0-2 record.

Worse still, the overtime loss came in typical Raiders fashion: due to a heartbreaking game that didn’t go their way. When Hunter Renfrow was crushed by the Cardinals’ defense, the ball flew and Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy was the one to recover. Murphy ran all the way for a touchdown, Raiders fans impressive.

Some Raiders fans are suspicious about whether or not the call should have held when Murphy threw it as he was crossing the pylon threshold.

Have the Raiders been screwed by Byron Murphy’s game-winning fumble return for the Cardinals?

Unlike the Aces’ historic moment in their franchise history, the Raiders made franchise history for the wrong reasons: They saw their biggest lead (20 points) in team history.

Some blame Derek Carr, some blame Hunter Renfrow, and some blame the umpires for deciding Murphy’s game as a touchdown.

But as JustBlogBaby’s Alex Monfreda points out, a football game is never about one person or play. Yes, that game ended the game, but the Raiders arguably had four quarters to win beforehand.

As for Murphy’s touchdown, the camera angles available convey that he crossed the pylon with the ball in hand.

Perhaps more angles could shed light on this controversy, but by the looks of it, the Cardinals won the game — and Byron Murphy was dangerously close to potentially losing it.
