Has Yuki Tsunoda saved his F1 future after new Honda-Red Bull partnership deal? » FirstSportz

Yuki Tsunoda is currently without a seat for the 2023 Formula One season, but there is a lingering belief that Red Bull and Honda’s new deal could potentially result in Tsunoda being saved for next year’s AlphaTauri seat.
Earlier in the season, it was announced that Pierre Gasly had signed a contract extension with Red Bull’s sister team for 2023, as the second seat at Red Bull is under wraps until at least 2024.
While Gasly’s future in esports is assured, that’s not the case for Yuki Tsunoda. The 22-year-old has improved on his performance from last year but still occasionally displayed a hasty driving style which he was heavily criticized for in 2021.
Helmut Marko has previously admitted he was impressed by the Japanese driver’s performances this season but has also warned him to get his temper under control. Tsunoda is considered the “problem child” in the Red Bull driver pool and this year also saw the appointment of a personal psychologist to help control his tantrums.
Additionally, AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost has admitted that Yuki has an unorthodox personality but believes he has the skill and speed to stay in the sport for at least another year.

Yuki Tsunoda has always been in the Honda good books
Yuki Tsunoda has been supported by the Honda Group since the beginning of 2016 and was able to win the 2018 Japanese Formula 4 Championship.
Recently it was announced that Honda will support Red Bull powertrains until 2025 and because of that, Tsunoda’s chances of a new contract are very good.
At the moment there are rumors of a sponsorship deal between Red Bull and Honda that will give the latter more leverage in deciding who sits on AlphaTauri seats and this potential deal could bode well for Yuki Tsunoda.
Honda wants a Japanese driver in the sport and tech pundit Albert Fabrega has reported that the new deal between Red Bull and Honda will also include Tsunoda’s contract.
Red Bull has a huge driver squad that includes stars like Liam Lawson, Jehan Daruvala and also a Japanese driver named Ayumu Isawa who has done well in F2 this year.
There are many options on the table for 2023, but with the new deal it looks very likely that Yuki Tsunoda will be able to extend his contract with AlphaTauri for at least another year.
